The point is that the Watson-Pepperidge-Holmes household is not an activist one. You will not find a rainbow flag or a sticker or a placard anywhere in our house. Nobody’s ever marched or chanted or even written a strongly-worded letter to an MP. I remember being oh, twelve or thirteen, and hearing peers and grownups talk, sometimes with fervor, about gay rights. I never connected it with myself or my family. One day an older kid yelled at me for not seeming to care. “Why should I?” I said. She was agog. “Because your dads are gay!” she shouted.

I just listened to lunchee's podfic. This chapter brought tears to my eyes. I'm a member of Pflag. My 14 year old daughter is gay. Right now she is at the Q-center for her weekly support group that her Dad and I encourage her to attend. It's hard for kids, especially if they don't conform to narrow minded people's "normality". When my daughter told me, I told her "as long as you're true to yourself, I'm happy for you." People that are not true to their hearts are truly the saddest people in my opinion. Then I told her that I had a unrequited crush on a girl once. And I named her after that girl. I love Johnlock, but I like kidfic too. This is a really fun fic! The Sherlock/John/Eugenia dynamics in this fic are wonderful.
And comment on lunchee's audio notes, American Accents-A Nebraska accent would be similar to Captain Jack Harkness. He grew up in the midwest, after Scotland of course. I can't do accents but according to what I've read I speak standard US newscasters accent. Many newscasters are educated at Syracuse University about 5 miles from where I grew up and now live. It's in upstate New York. And I love English accents many of my friends also adore them!
